J.J. Abrams will be directing the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX.
The Star Wars brand has continued to see success recently and with another movie coming soon they have chosen the Mission: Impossible and Star Trek director J.J. Abrams to be the new director. Along with directing the movie, Abrams will be co-writing it alongside Chris Terrio according to reports.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said ““With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy,” in a press release. The movie is still in pre-production with filming set to begin in 2018 with a 2019 release.
